Holiday Cards
My wife, Hannah, and I handmade our own Christmas cards four years ago. We thought it was a fun, creative way to spread a little joy to friends and family. She carved her own stamp. I wrote a little rhyme and clickety-clacked it out on a typewriter. It was great.
Since then, we’ve been creating and selling cards through our freelance business every holiday season. We start with multiple concepts, then narrow it down to 3-4 designs. The first year we sold them, we stamped by hand, used the typewriter, and made plenty of mistakes. I think “breakage” is the business term. We’ve gotten better every year, though. Now we take a more digital approach, but our mission is still the same: Spread a little joy.
